NetLogo Information

-
NetLogo is a software system for developing, testing and studying simple simulations. It is very cool! It is written in Java so it runs well on most computers, although it may be a bit slow sometimes. If it runs slowly on your computer, quit all the other applications. If it still runs too slowly, install more RAM in your computer. Only run one simulation at a time.
-
NetLogo is NOT a video game! It is much better. You can use it to program a video game, or you can use it to study real math and science: it can perform either function.
-
NetLogo is free! It has been developed with grants from the National Science Foundation, among others. It is publically funded and designed to be used in educational environments.
-
NetLogo has been evolving for about 20 years, and has almost a thousand different types of simulations and learning exercises included with the distribution. You can download the distribution from the NetLogo Website.
-
NetLogo is easy to use to study simulations. It is a fairly easy programming language so you can either modify an existing simulation that interests you, or you can program your own simulation from the ground up. In this case you will need to develop the program logic yourself.
-
NetLogo documentation is very extensive. Don't try to read the docs all at one time. If you have a project you are developing, it will help you keep your focus. We recommend that you only read the parts of the documentation that you need for your current goals.
